| Moccasins
Moccasins made from a variety of animal hides have been worn by North American First Nations people for thousands of years. Today many people from around the world are discovering the beauty and versatility of this durable and comfortable foot apparel. Petroglyph Gallery is proud to offer authentic, hand-crafted moccasins made by artisans from the Chilcotin and Ulkatcho First Nations located in British Columbias interior. Though more modern threads have replaced the use of sinew, these moccasins are made in much the same way as they have been for hundreds of years. Our artisans still start the process with the hides from deer and moose. They prepare the hides, tan them, cut out the patterns and add beaded or embroidered designs to create truly wearable works of art. Custom moccasin and glove orders made to size are available.
