Northwest Coast Native images were carved and painted for hundreds of years on and in wood and rock. In the twentieth century Haida artist Bill Reid brought new life to these images, carving them into gold and silver. The incredible beauty of the images accentuated by these precious metals contributed to a tremendous increase in the interest and popularity of Northwest Coast Native Art. Today there are many talented artists creating designs in bracelets, pendants, rings and earrings.
